Waterford Swivel/Cartwheel Bit – Precision, Comfort, and Control

The Waterford Swivel/Cartwheel Bit is a game-changer for riders looking to enhance their communication with their horses. Designed for precision, flexibility, and optimal control, this bit is perfect for a variety of disciplines, including show jumping, cross-country, and everyday riding. With a combination of the Waterford mouthpiece and cartwheel-style cheekpieces, it ensures that horses respond effectively without resistance or discomfort.

Superior Control with Cartwheel Cheeks

The cartwheel-shaped cheekpieces of this bit provide unparalleled control and guidance, making it ideal for riders who need enhanced steering capabilities. The design lays flat against the horse's face, preventing excessive movement and encouraging precise turns. This makes it particularly useful in:

Show jumping – Helps riders maintain balance and straightness before takeoff. Cross-country – Enhances control while navigating tight turns at high speeds. Training young or strong horses – Encourages better lateral flexion and responsiveness.

With multiple rein attachment points, the Waterford Swivel/Cartwheel Bit offers customizable levels of leverage, allowing riders to adjust the intensity of their aids based on their horse’s needs.

Waterford Mouthpiece – The Key to a Softer Connection

Unlike traditional bits that apply constant pressure, the Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of flexible, rounded links that move independently. This prevents the horse from grabbing hold of the bit or leaning heavily on the reins.

Benefits of the Waterford Mouthpiece:

Prevents resistance – The rolling action of the mouthpiece discourages horses from locking onto the bit.
Encourages relaxation – Promotes salivation and a softer, more supple mouth.
Distributes pressure evenly – Reduces discomfort by spreading rein pressure across the tongue and bars.
Ideal for strong or excitable horses – Helps maintain lightness without harshness.

This innovative design makes the Waterford Swivel/Cartwheel Bit suitable for horses that tend to pull, lean, or become heavy in the rider’s hands.

Versatile Design for Different Riding Disciplines

Whether you’re training a young horse or refining the skills of an experienced competitor, the Waterford Swivel/Cartwheel Bit adapts to various riding styles and situations. Riders love this bit for:

Jumping and eventing – Provides quick yet gentle control for precise turns. Schooling and flatwork – Encourages softness and responsiveness. Hacking and trail riding – Enhances safety and control over strong horses.

Additionally, the bit's mild gag action offers an extra degree of leverage when needed, helping riders communicate effectively without excessive force.
